The Educative Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) is a portfolio-based assessment that evaluates a prospective teacher's readiness for a full-time teaching position.

Hey! Sorry for the delay in responding! I teach 2nd grade, and before this, I was student teaching 1st grade. 😊 As for the EdTPA, it’s a performance-based assessment for teacher candidates. It involves submitting a video of your teaching, along with detailed reflections and evidence of your planning, instruction, and assessment. It’s a big process, but considered an important part of becoming a certified teacher in most states. Do you have any other questions about the process? Thank you for watching!

@@SummerBailey I attend Grand Canyon University for my masters degree in early childhood education, leading into teaching licensure. I want to teach kindergarten and first grade for my student teaching. Also, I want to prepare for the teaching exam, since I’m located in New York. What book can I get to help me prepare for the exam?

@@SummerBaileyI’m in a 5th grade classroom. I’m finishing this December and it’s hard learning the material for the standards 😅. I also prefer younger children but I couldn’t really choose the grade I wanted so I just have to deal with that.

My schools would register the student teachers as subs so if the reg teacher is gone the student teacher can gain more practice

@@6686Andrea This is such a great idea. I did sign up to be a sub, but the district I am in you have to do that months in advance or that can’t get you in. What grade did you do for student teaching?

@@SummerBailey my experience is in middle school. My school at the time didn't require me to student teach bc I was a "floating" education assistant. They used that and my small groups as that experience for student teaching hours. Where I love it doesn't take that long to become a sub. When I moved, I signed up to be a sub in county and city. By August I was subbing by December I was hired as a long term sub in high school. By October I was finally in my full time teaching position after moving for 7th grade.

Hmm maybe they changed the ingredients. When I made this video 3-4 years ago I don’t remember seeing biotin
